About

I’m an energetic go-getter who loves rolling up my sleeves–utilizing my systems and strategic thinking and cross-functional skillset in gender, tech, and development–to help you and your organization achieve your goals and outputs all while having some fun.

Following in the words of Dr. Chandra Mohanty, I aim to produce critical thought leadership that “changes the stories we tell” about development. At the same time, I also work inside of development: completing research for organizations working to enhance programming for women. I have worked with the World Bank Africa Gender Innovation Lab, CARE, and the International Center for Wheat and Maize Improvement and others.

Previously, I was a postdoctoral scholar of Social Justice & Human Rights in the School of Social & Behavioral Sciences, housed in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences at Arizona State University. Previously, I held the Yudof Fellowship for Science Policy & Ethics and the Social Science Research Council’s International Dissertation Research Fellowship.

My scholarly research utilized the toolkits of data feminism and organizational sociology to unpack the black box of development organization knowledge-making–diving inside the practices and policies of sex-disaggregated data, standardized monitoring & evaluation systems, and bureaucratic reporting mandates. My scholarly work examines how demands for data and technologies intertwine to fundamentally alter transnational efforts for gender equality. Empirically, I utilize the experiences of the diverse people who make up the international development sector—analyzing the multiplicities of race, class, gender, and nation-based inequalities—as they endeavor together toward gender equality.

My scholarship has been recognized by the Anderson Award for Technology & Social Cohesion, the Schwartzberg Global Governance Award, and The Gender Policy Report Research Partnership Award. My community engagement has been recognized by the Hawkinson Foundation for Peace and Social Justice and the University of Minnesota’s Outstanding Community Service Award. And my commitment to global citizenship has enabled me to win 4 Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships to study East African languages and cultures.
